These blanks are ideal for turning bowls, platters, shallow dishes, and decorative pieces. About Camphor Laurel One of Australia’s most popular turning timbers. Camphor Laurel is prized for its beautiful colour variation — from pale honey tones through to rich reds and deep browns, often within the same piece. The timber has a distinctive camphor scent when freshly cut or turned, and finishes to a smooth, lustrous surface. Working Properties Janka Hardness: 5.0 kN — medium hardness, easy to turn Grain: Interlocked, often figured with beautiful patterns Turning: Excellent — holds detail well, minimal tear-out Finishing: Takes oil and wax finishes beautifully. Danish oil or EEE/Shellawax recommended. Drying: Blanks are air-dried. May benefit from further seasoning depending on your project.
